Detailed information on Plia Folding Chair by Giancarlo Piretti, 1967

When the Plia chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti, was originally introduced at the 1967 Fiera del Mobile in Milan, it was presented as “the symbol of a new era focused on plastic.” The chair was so well received that many visitors tried to take the chairs with them. The Italian fashion designer Mila Schön ordered thousands at first sight for her fashion shows.

As one of the first chairs to fold and stack, it went on to be featured in MoMA’s 1970s Radical Furniture exhibition, which further cemented its legacy as a leading example of “democratic design.”

Originally retailing at 300 euro.

To this day, the Plia is considered a stylish landmark of Italian Design.

These vintage models are in excellent condition, with no abrasions or faults in the plastic and likely date back to the 1980s.
