This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on sides and back to protect the stone for long term use.

It measures 155 mm (6.10 inches) long × 100 mm (3.94 inches) wide × 35 mm (1.38 inches) tall, and weighs 976 g (34.43 oz / 2.15 lbs).

Hardness: 4.9Very dense, hard Hachimai from Aiiwatani. Perfect for razor final finishing using Mikawa nagura progressions and just fast enough for standalone finishing as well. The patterns on the stones surface are indicative of Hachimai, in combination with the stones base color. The black lines on the stones surface do not seem to have any negative effect or cause scratches and appear to serve only as a visual distraction.
