HOT ! SMITHS EARLY 12-15 DENNISON AQUATITE WRISTWATCH C 1952

An excellent example of the pre-everest Dennison Aquatite cased Smiths waterproof wristwatch. These are probably a hybrid of the early dial found primarily in the 3 piece cases, with an earlier style dust cap which was soon modified to allow a slot for inspection and regulation. These dust caps are close fitting with an allowance for the mainspring barrel protrusion, and resembles the swiss type closely, rather than the unique smiths later design. The hole for the bolt screw indicates that the stem is to be withdrawn and movement removed from  the case prior to removal of this cap, rather than levering it off and risking fouling the balance wheel. And the original winding crown. If you wish either of these to be replaced they can be at no extra charge. The case diameter is approx 33.5mm and most of the original soft nickel chrome plating is intact. A beautifully simple dial design makes the timekeeping simple. Smiths simple straight blued steel hands. 15 jewel lever escapement with polished \'scape wheel and pallet fork. This has now had a replacement winding crown and will be fitted with a different strap.
