This is a stupendous Antique three-legged sides pedestal stand created in America during the late Victorian period, back in the 1890\'s. This pedestal-stand jardinière has been masterfully carved in round shapes, with floriated motifs in solid fine mahogany wood. Beautifully carved with a round top and fluted shaft, featuring impeccable garland details and a three-legged, lion-claw-like finial grasping spheres. This item is fine quality, solid and heavy, with no loose joints. Very stable and no woodworm. An attractive piece with a lovely carved stem and a quality feel. They have precious remains of the aged patina and gorgeous eye appeal.

The Chippendale Style

The name of this style come from Thomas Chippendale (1718–1779). He was a renowned English cabinetmaker who defined mid-18th-century design by blending Rococo, Chinese, and Gothic styles, often using mahogany. His 1754 publication, The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker\'s Director, revolutionized furniture design, making him the first cabinetmaker to have a style named after him. American Chippendale furniture (c. 1755–1790) brought sophisticated, carved mahogany designs to the colonies, adapted from English designer Thomas Chippendale’s The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker’s Director (1754). It blended Rococo, Chinese, and Gothic influences, featuring cabriole legs, claw-and-ball feet, and pierced splat-back chairs. Major centers like Philadelphia, Boston, and Newport produced distinctive, often more robust, regional variations of this elegant style.
