Pair of late 19th century French Louis XVI / Marie Antoinette style fauteuils, hand-carved and finished in creamy white paint. The surface shows authentic crackle, chipping, and areas of paint loss consistent with use and time, highlighting the original patina. Each chair has been structurally revised for stability and features a rectangular padded back with a shaped crest rail, upholstered armrests, and a generous seat, all secured with traditional nailhead trim. The frames display carved rosettes at the corners, fluted legs, and baluster arm supports — hallmarks of the neoclassical Louis XVI style. Upholstered in the original faded blue velvet, the fabric shows natural wear but remains serviceable. Raised on tapered, fluted legs, the chairs are solid and stable, with elegant proportions and the restrained ornamentation characteristic of the Louis XVI period. Their distressed painted finish and timeworn surfaces lend a refined antique character, making them ideal as statement accent chairs or as refined seating in a living room, study, or bedroom.
