Detailed information on Tennendo Byakudan Khorokan (Sandalwood) 150g (10051)

A natural sandalwood fragrance with a refreshing hint of tartness, crafted from Indonesian sandalwood.

Each stick is made by blending the finest Mysore sandalwood powder from India with powdered tabu leaves as a natural binder, resulting in pure sandalwood incense. This timeless product has long been cherished across Japan as an authentic sandalwood incense and was once introduced nationwide alongside the incense Shōrin.

The package design depicts a reconstructed image of the Khorokan, the ancient Heian-period guest house in Dazaifu, Kyushu, where envoys from abroad were welcomed and officials departed for overseas missions.

The inner wrapping paper illustrates pine-lined white sands and a blue ocean, evoking the image of sandalwood incense once burned to greet honored guests.

On the wrapping is inscribed a classical poem:
“At Kashii Bay, cranes call as they fly across Shiga’s shore, where the offing waves rise high, heralding the arrival of guests.”
