Detailed information on Cephalopod Necklace

A teensy octopus sits atop two ancient relatives, fossilized ammonites. Ammonites died off with dinosaurs and in the most famous mass extinction event, about 65 million years ago.  These two, and their tiny cousin, can stay with you forever.

Vintage or near-vintage, Sterling silver with fossils. Stamped with a mark that we have not yet identified. Measures 18\" long; ammonites 2\" across. Extremely well made, this piece will become an heirloom.

Stunning as part of a moody dark look or as a contrast against bolder tones. Shown styled with our Serpentine Ram Cuff on the ankle.

The taxonomic group Cephalopod first appeared about 500 million years ago with creatures like ammonites. Modern cephalopods include octopuses, nautiluses, and squid. The tiniest of all is the Star-sucker Pygmy Octopus (Octopus wolfi), which fits on a fingertip - even smaller than the little guy on this necklace!

Feather & Foxglove contributes a portion of profits to support environmental conservation and animal welfare.
