The legend of St Christopher has its roots in both Greek and Roman mythology. The story of the St. Christopher necklace can be traced back to the 3rd century A.D, when St. Christopher lived. According to legend, St. Christopher carried a child across a river. The child grew heavier as they crossed until St. Christopher could barely carry him. It was later revealed that the child was Jesus, and St. Christopher had carried the world\'s weight on his shoulders.

This story became a symbol of protection for travellers, and St. Christopher was named the patron saint of travellers. The St Christopher necklace was believed to protect the wearer from dangers and accidents on the journey.
