Construction: Solid Walnut with Pine (secondary)
Dimensions: 18” W x 15” D x 38” T
Condition: Excellent. Minor signs of wear consistent with age. Please see photos.
Details: A lovely example of an antique washstand. Drawer opens and closes perfectly. Very solid.
The history of washstands dates back to the 16th century, initially used by the wealthy to wash their face and hands before indoor plumbing was introduced. These washstands were simple and small, with a flat top and open space below for a washbowl and pitcher, as seen with this piece.
