The massive slab plank top retains authentic age and wear, including oxidized grain, tool marks, bench dog peg holes, scattered fastener points, and a sequence of shaped apertures consistent with a workshop utility carpenters bench or etabli table. The timber’s substantial thickness and expressive patina with natural checking and age splits provide a sculptural presence with material honesty. The top measures 4.25 inches thick, and is supported by a crisp, minimalist welded iron base having a darkened patinated finish. The linear frame creates a strong negative-space effect while the uprights firmly uphold the long plank. The piece balances industrial, modern, farmhouse, rustic, and wabi-sabi influences.
