Detailed information on Ricardo Fasanello (1930–1993) Ciranda Stools, Set of Three, Brazil, 1986 — Black Carbon Steel and Leather (Lot 846)

Description

A rare set of three Ciranda stools designed by Ricardo Fasanello in 1986, exemplifying the designer’s disciplined exploration of geometry, material tension, and functional sculpture. Executed in black-painted carbon steel, each stool is anchored by a solid circular base — a deliberate structural gesture that provides visual grounding and exceptional stability. The seats are upholstered in the original leather and padded for comfort, creating a refined contrast between industrial rigor and tactile luxury.

Fasanello’s work consistently blurred the boundary between art and utility, often employing steel, resin, and leather to investigate form and ergonomics. The Ciranda series reflects this philosophy: reductive in line yet assertive in presence. Equally compelling as counter stools or sculptural accents, these pieces integrate seamlessly into mid-century modern and contemporary interiors while retaining a distinctly Brazilian modernist identity.

A scarce and architecturally confident grouping from Fasanello’s late production.
