If you have never used a handwoven towel, you must try one. They feel so good to hold, and they perform with equal measure absorbing and drying just as they should. 

Weaving laces fiber into place repeatedly with each row on the loom holding the previous row in place. Sewing finishes the end, and the result is a tough and rugged workhorse that looks like a vibrant and colorful work of art. Put it to the test! It will pass, and you\'ll be glad.

Hilary Crowell\'s Wiscasset weaving studio is open to the public. Her showroom - complete with The Cultivated Thread t-shirts - converts into a space to host a schedule of events, which include community weaving classes.

She is a joy, and her space is a charming 6-minute drive from the wonderful Wiscasset bakery and cafe Treats. We met her through Eric McIntyre of Village Handcraft, also of Wiscasset, and appreciate the tight knit community of their Midcoast town only 30-minutes south of The Good Supply barn.

A practice of making small batch handwoven goods including towels, rag rugs, wearables, and table runners results in high quality and visually pleasing textiles that feel good in the hand. Her household items grow softer and more absorbent over years of use.
