Country House Armchair In The Manner Of Howard & Sons 1930\'s VINTAGE

Made during the 1930\'s this English country house armchair is a close match to a similar design by the famous London firm of Howard and Sons Ltd. The wooden frame forms the chair into an elegant shape creating the signature look of low and deep seated furniture pieces that are often found in English country residences.

Fabric upholstered, stuffed with horsehair and the roomy seat fitted with well adjusted coil springs. Most likely still covered in its original striped fabric as shown by the fine workmanship of the upholsterer and the high silk content present in the aging woven material. 

The front of the chair features two turned mahogany legs and two splayed legs at the rear. It can be moved around with ease, both sets of castors were replaced at some point. 

The condition of the chair is excellent, feeling sturdy and well made. Over the last 90 years the striped golden fabric has developed a pleasing faded look. There is no damage to the soft furnishings, the seat appears to have been used only occasionally. Along the bottom of the left side of the chair is a narrow sloping line visible, that shows the original colour of the fabric. This could be covered up if necessary.

We feel there are many years of use left in the existing fabric. However, we can arrange to have the seat covered in your chosen fabric (additional charge to be advised). This beautiful armchair would be a great addition to any home. As expected it is super comfortable, the generous proportions provide plenty of space and support for the sitter. The design is English country house at its best, yet without the eye-watering price ticket of an original Howard and Sons.
